Don’t know how this happened, but I completely forgot to mention Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan’s DEMO in my little list of year-end greatness.
In a year where comics seemed to be taking a step backward, DEMO was a refreshing leap forward. Every issue of this sang without needing the previous issue to fall back on. It was a series so good that Brian Wood eventually decided to ignore his original “normal folks with powers” concept… and I didn’t notice.
Run out and pick up a few issues of DEMO. Each issue stands alone, so you won’t get lost, and you can do a lot worse for quality entertainment. You can find out more from the publisher, ait/planetlar.
