City of the Dead

Posted on June 6, 2005

I finished reading Brian Keene’s City of the Dead yesterday. City is a sequel to The Rising, Brian’s debut novel which was released wither last year or in late ‘03. I honestly can’t remember which.

City of the Dead was one of the quickest, most intense reads I’ve picked up in a long time. The action starts on page one and doesn’t let up until the very last page. City actually had me panting from sheer exhaustion at a few points. You need to run your ass down to the bookstore and pick up a copy of this… NOW!

Brian’s a busy guy. His novel Terminal (a longer version of his novella of the same name) hit stores last week. He has two other novels, The Rutting Season and Earthworm Gods, coming out from indie publishers in the next few months, with a mass market paperback release in mid-2006.

I want that level of busy in my own life. I don’t want it given to me, though. I’m going to reach out and take it.
