A Team-Building Exercise
Posted on December 6, 2005
Putting off Tasteless Planet until tomorrow, because today I just learned that my short story “A Team-Building Exercise” was published. This is me writing horror and action like I’m all jacked on speed or something, so I think you’ll like it!

It Continues

Three days of sub-70’s temps, and it looks we’re staying under 65 for the foreseeable future. I think Not Quite Summer may actually be here.
Finished the first draft of the final Licensed Property Comic last night. Gotta get back to Run Like Hell now. That’s been sitting for too long. I also have to talk to a few artists, find out what’s up there. They’re so hard to communicate with!
Want to get a Christmas present for your favorite broke, bald writer? How about Shocklines.com Gift Certificates? No? There’s always my Amazon wishlist.
Tomorrow, we’ll be quick-hitting three restaurants for Fear of a Tasteless Planet, so you can skip it if you want.

Ah, cold weather

In a startling turn of events, it looks like it will be in the sub-80’s for more than a single day this week. Could this be a start of the Austin season I call “Not Quite Summer?” You will have to wait and see, but rest assured, I’ll keep you all informed.
Found out the hard way (but not too hard) that buying the $50 big bottle of Knob Creek is not the best way to promote activity over the weekend. I ended up slacking hard. If it weren’t for the Bill Hicks CD I received Saturday night, I’d probably be depressed.
Saw on Brian Keene’s blog today that he had to pull the comic book adaptation of his novel The Rising away from its publisher. That’s a damn shame. I hate to see that happen to anybody. I never really trusted that publisher, though. They had a few high profile projects, but never had more than a message board. Weird, huh?
In other news, though, Brian says some comic book publisher is going to be adapting some of his short stories into a comic series. That could be cool. I’m just distrubed enough to want to see an adaptaion of “Castaways.”

Friday already? I was just getting bored!

First pre-review of A Trip to Rundberg is up here. They liked it! They really liked it!
Also found out this morning that there should be an article on Rundberg up at Comic Book Resources sometime in the near future. That’s great. Looks like we might actually sell some of this one!
I have to say, neither one of these would have happened without the activism of Shawn Richter. He’s not only a good artist, he’s a helluva salesman. When I falter and fumble and twist my guts up over how to get an interview or review, Shawn just runs out and fucking does it. If he hadn’t insisted on getting paid, I’d give him a cut of the ownership. Sorry, Shawn. Guess you’ll have to settle for that lunch at Hooters Danny took you to.

All that is Good and Right

Oh, thank you God, bringer of light and cocoa, for letting George W Bush finally (after what? Almost two year?) come up wit a strategy for victory. Thirty0eight pages of strategy tidbits like “defeat insurgency” and “meet milestones.”
Bravo.
I guess I should just be happy it wasn’t thirty-eight pages of “Tell them how great Jesus is.”
I know there are some people who read this who voted for Bush. Well, c’mon. After a certain time, don’t you have to realize that thing floating in the toilet isn’t a chunk of gold?
