Coming January 2012: Lights Out

Who else is tired of the moping and general depressing nature of this place, lately?  I know I am. Well, here’s some good news…

That’s the cover of my next novel, Lights Out. Lights Out will be available in January 2012 as the first novel in Thunderstorm Books’ Hard Rain line.  Lights Out is the culmination of a story that’s been brewing my head for five years.  It’s a vampire story.  A nasty, gritty, violent vampire story. How to sum it up?  How about like this…?

Burnham State Maximum Security Penitentiary holds the worst criminals humanity has to offer.  Murderers, rapists, and others who have preyed upon humanity populate the prison, creating a food chain of violence and fear.  Something lives beneath Burnham, however, and after years of waiting, it has been set free.

And it is hungry.

Now, those who call Burnham home must band together if they hope to survive.  After years of being called monsters, they will face something much worse, and they will know how it feels to be prey.

That’s right. Vampires are attacking the fucking prison.  Man, I always wanted to say that! Lights Out is what happens when you take one writer with a love of siege stories, vampires, mayhem, and last stands, ask him what separates mankind from monstrosity, and then turn him loose.  It’s home to some of the best characters I’ve created (including one you’ve seen mentioned in Red Sky).  I really think you’re gonna dig it.
Lights Out will be available as a $35 hardcover limited to 140 copies, sporting that amazing Vincent Chong cover you see above.  Every copy will be signed.  With their Hard Rain line, Thunderstorm Books is creating a line of collectible books within the price range of the casual reader.  At this time, there are no plans for an ebook or softcover.

I’m very proud of Lights Out, and I hope you’ll check it out and enjoy it.

  1. This book sounds amazing Nate. I just purchased my hard rain subscription to ensure I would get a copy. Congrats on being the debut author for what I believe will be a very successful new line of books. Oh yeah…….. the cover looks sick as hell too.

  2. Hey Nate…… Any word on the release date for this beaut? Anxiously awaiting this one.
